Summer School - 360 of EU Affairs : Key controversies in the EU

Are you seeking to specialize in the study of the European Union, looking for a hands-on immersion, or preparing for an international career in Brussels ? The Summer School 360° of EU Affairs offers a unique opportunity to pursue your objectives and build real-world skills. Courses are taught by leading scholars in their fields and the activities offer privileged engagement with EU institutions and high-level practitioners.

This summer school co-organised by the Université libre de Bruxelles (Institute for European Studies & Faculty of Philosophy and Social Sciences), the University of Bucharest and the Universidad Autonóma de Madrid examines current challenges of EU integration; through academic lectures, roundtables and panels with high level officials and experts in EU affairs, it provides an introduction to EU politics with a focus on key controversies, EU institutions and decision-making. An innovative pedagogical approach is proposed which combines in depth knowledge in EU studies, learning of new professional skills, visits, networking, and mentoring sessions as well as cultural and political tours of Brussels. It is an initiation to understand the EU and an opportunity to discover Brussels, as capital of Belgium and headquarter of EU institutions and many international organisations.

In a context where EU affairs continue to expand, the Summer School is meeting the rising demand for professionals in this domain. Students will acquire sought-after knowledge and networks, which will prepare them for careers in a wide range of sectors including the European institutions, government, civil society organisations and academia

Programme
Through academic lectures, roundtables and panels with high-level officials and experts in EU affairs, the summer school provides an introduction to EU politics with a focus on key controversies, EU institutions and decision-making.

Methodology
An innovative pedagogical approach is proposed combining in-depth knowledge in EU studies, learning of new professional skills, networking and mentoring sessions and social and cultural activities. 

Target audience
The summer school is designed for BA students (final year), MA students and young professionnals with a background in political science, law, history, international relations, etc. Participants should have a sufficient command of English to interact and to deliver a group presentation.
